Gas Gas rider Dougie Lampkin has entered the history books of the Six Days Trial in Scotland (SSDT), the legendary Scottish, this weekend becoming the first rider to get six absolute wins in the 101 years of the race.

After a spectacular start by many of the favorites, Dougie took the lead on Thursday, after having succeeded in overcoming the first two days without penalty and with only seven points in the third and fourth days. And a good line was maintained on Friday, which strengthened his lead against James Dabill, the man who would keep a tight fight to the last areas on Saturday, the final and decisive day of competition. Such was the battle between the Gas Gas rider and Dabill in the SSDT where both finished even with 15 points and with the same total elapsed time, so that the judges were forced to review each and every one of the results of each day (total 176 sections) to determine a win. And thanks to Dougie’s better race start (he scored two 'zeros' in the first two days against the two penalties for Dabill on the second day of the race).

The 36 years old british rider managed to add a sixth victory in the longest race in the Trials world, the third Scottish victory for a Gas Gas rider, and also the first place for the Gas Gas Team in the teams classification. Another architect of the triumph of the official team was young Michael Brown, who won the third overall position and set a new podium position in a race that was particularly fruitful for him.

“To have become the only rider to have won the Scottish six times is a massive achievement and one that ranks up there with my World titles and Grand Prix victories. Each year it becomes more difficult to come up here and win against the younger riders, but I will be back next year and looking to make it seven wins so the young ones shouldn't relax just yet”.

The second and final day of the Polisport Enduro Grand Prix of Portugal proved once again had the struggle for the World Championship in the women (EW) which is a continuous duel between Laia Sanz and ‘Lulu’ Puy, after the Catalan turned around the situation from the previous day and exalted herself this time with the victory. The one who suffered more than desired was Ivan Cervantes, as his early abandonment of Saturday prevented him could discover the correct path of the special and he failed to fight for the podium on Sunday. After some good rides in some of the stages, the overall result of the day left him in tenth position and a fifth in the overall championship provisional standings.

The one who was able to enjoy a successful day on Sunday was the youngster from the Isle of Man, Danny McCanney, who day after day is gaining more confidence in Junior. McCanney was third and consolidated in the same position overall. On the other hand, one who demonstrated a good line on Saturday was ‘Seb’ Guillaume, who was second in E3, and finished with an encouraging fifth place on Sunday. The result is particularly positive given that the second race days are stressful for him because of the recent lung surgery he underwent a few weeks ago. Jordi Figueras again demonstrated his honor and his relentless progression with a ninth place in the same category. Finally, Gonçalo Reis repeated in eighth place in Enduro 1 and had a very good weekend in his home Grand Prix.

“The fact that Saturday I could not complete even one of the stages, on Sunday I didn’t have any course reference causing everything to be much more difficult. The first lap was very complicated, but I must admit that psychologically it was not my best day, since the abandonment on Saturday was a severe blow. We must recover, do a reset and return to giving it our all.”

“After seeing how it went this weekend, I think this will be the keynote of the whole World Championship. The races will be hotly contested and the key will not to make mistakes. This weekend has been pretty tough, especially mentally after my mistake on Friday in the Super Test, so Sunday I went for it and eventually was able to get the win. I'm happy for the win and, above all, because these points are vital to the title”.

“This weekend I rediscovered a bit my prior pace and I feel much better than last week. The truth is I am very happy with the podium on Saturday and I think the fifth Sunday is good because I'm still not a hundred percent physically. I am convinced that we can improve even more in preparation for the coming races. I'm happy for the whole team and I have to thank them all for the work and support they have given me”.

The first day of Polisport Enduro Grand Prix of Portugal again had two faces for the GasGas team, on the one hand of glory after the great battle between Féminas 'Lulu' Puy and Laia Sanz, a podium for 'Seb' Guillaume in E3 and the excellent ride of Danny McCanney in Junior, but also that of desolation, because of neglect of Ivan Cervantes after a simple gasoline hose left him out of the game.

The victory for Ludivine began to take shape after the Super Special on Friday, where the nerves and confusion in the route caused Laia to lose valuable seconds. However, for much of the day Sanz gained strength and almost a surprise victory. Finally 'Lulu' asserted her experience on the final day and beat her team mate by more than 6 seconds, enough to make the difference and achieve victory. After his physical problems on the second day of Munitibar, Sebastien Guillaume has recovered and made a memorable first race, arriving in second place in Enduro 3. In the same vein, Danny McCanney became unable to go back to the podium in Junior, closing the day in fourth place. Meanwhile, Jordi Figueras was 11th in E3 and Gonçalo Reis had a good day before his home audience, finishing eighth.

Regarding Ivan Cervantes, the rider started the day full of enthusiasm, but in the first Enduro Test he lost the opportunity to proceed because of a combination of small and fatal misfortune. Ivan saw the heat had affected a fuel supply hose which was collapsed and could not breathe.

“It was a shame because the bike had started good, but after the first half hour stopped at the first special test. I could not discover what happened. After some time looking around we saw that it was a simple hose that the heat was collapsed, but it was too late. This is where the world gets complicated, but we cannot give up. We'll have to go race by race and give it everything, starting tomorrow. The championship is long and many things can happen”.

Ludivine Puy

“The victory has been quite tight until the final stage, but it went well and I am happy. This is the first win of the season and I hope to continue. Laia took advantage in the Extreme, and I in the Cross Test and in the end I got the win. It was not easy, but it will not be in any race. We two are at a high level and anything can happen”.

“Seeing as everything has been set, now I wish I had gotten a little more, but yesterday I started with something wrong in the Supertest, I lost eight seconds and without this time would have won today. Still, I think I can be happy. We have been recovering until finally almost got it. Little by little I hope to improve the strategy and not get so nervous at having to fight against the clock”.

The fourth round of the Spanish Trial Championship (CET) held this Sunday in the town Alcarria of Sigüenza, Adam Raga again enjoyed a podium position after a day in which equality was the overall dominant factor among the top riders.

After the rain that fell on Saturday, the more complicated areas of the race on Sunday made both Adam and his two top rivals, Bou and Cabestany have similar score accumulations along the zones. In fact, until the 9th Section, Raga was only one point behind Bou who was only one point behind ‘Cabes’ who was the leader. However, the final zones would determine the end of the race, in which Adam added a fiasco 'in extremis' which ended all of his chances for victory. The Gas Gas rider took the 'five' being less than two meters from the end of the section, which led him to end with a total of 36 points, two more than 'Cabestany -second- and six more than Bou, the final winner.

Like Adam, the other two 'youth' Gas Gas team members in TR-1, Pere Borrellas and Jorge Casales, also showed an excellent result. Borrellas ended with a major sixth place absolute with 92 points, one more than Casales, who scored the seventh absolute position. the Spanish Trial Championship will rest now until July 15th, when the next round is held in Pobladura de las Regueras (Leon).

Adam Raga

“I am satisfied, although I would have liked to win and this was a race that I could have, so that I would be much more happy. Still, I think we did a good job and it was a shame that we had a five in the last zone. The race was not easy, and indeed required adjustment for time in fact one of my points has been for time, but we fought and we demonstrated that we are competitive. It's a shame not have had a little more of a reward, but I'm sure that we can improve further in the next races”.

The dispute of the second and final day of the Enduro Grand Prix AMV Euskadi took a similar line in sight for Munitibar on Saturday, with another victory in Féminas for Laia Sanz over 'Lulu' Puy and many problems for the rest of the Gas Gas pilots in the absolute categories.

Those who took the brunt of the second round were Ivan Cervantes Biscay, which fall in the first stage of the day lost all the options for vistory, and Sebastien Guillaume, who suffered from his recent lung surgery and had to drop out. More fortunate was the race for Danny McCanney in Enduro Junior, because he managed to get on the podium in third position, and to Gonçalo Reis, eighth in E1. Meanwhile, Jordi Figueras repeated in the eleventh position of E3.

The intense battle between the two Gas Gas riders Ludivine Puy and Laia Sanz returned to opt in favor of the Catalana after a very consistent day to which was added 1 minute penalty received by the French woman who fell out of control time . This gave an added reassurance to Laia at the end of the race, managing to take a minute and 17 seconds over her team mate. Meanwhile, Ivan suffered much more than expected to be forced to pick from the 21st position in which the first Extreme test ended after a crash that cost him more than 50 seconds. The point of honor did not allow him to surrender and he kept going, slowly gaining positions from the last place in the standings until arriving in ninth place at the finish. This result causes him to lose the lead in the E2 standings, but remains third after 'Pela' Renet and Cristobal Guerrero, who dominated the race.

“After Saturday's win I knew we could do it again. My goal was to win a race but did not have to go here and less on both days. I think I cannot ask for more, but we must be aware that the championship is long and there will be many races and it will be very difficult to win against Lulu. This land was not the one I favor, but I think the key has been that the rally was very hard and complicated and this has been the determining factor. Next week in Portugal will certainly be a very different race and Lulu will be very fast”.

The first day of Enduro Grand Prix AMV Euskadi, held last Saturday in the town Munitibar Vizcaya, was not particularly lucky for Gas Gas team riders, except for the two representatives of the brand in females, Laia Sanz and Ludivine Puy, who maintained an intense duel with final victory for the Catalan. In what was the world premiere of the female Enduro, Sanz was faced with 'Lulu' Puy with her two World titles in 2010 and 2011, but in the very first day’s Extreme test, Laia added a considerable advantage over her known superior and held that advantage the rest of morning.

In Enduro 2 Ivan began the day by a mistake in the very first step for the Enduro Test, where he suffered a fall that caused him to lose nearly half a minute over their rivals and drop to eighth place. With this drag and on a very slippery slope and not conducive to his riding, the Gas Gas rider began a comeback that led him to fight again for approaching the places of honor. Finally, the victory would be to ‘Pela’ Renet, while Ivan was sixth, which would still allow him to maintain the lead with 79 points, three more than the Frenchman.

Gonçalo Reis E1 finished 11th in his World Cup debut this season, while in E3 Sebastien Guillaume, who also contested the citations from Chile and Argentina because of a lung problem, ended in a remarkable sixth. Jordi Figueras was 11th in E3, while Danny McCanney got sixth in Junior after a more or less difficult day.

“It was a tough day. With so much mud it was very complicated and at every turn everything became more difficult. Still, after the fall I've been feeling good, feeling good, and I trying to trace, although nobody in the world breathing stops for a second and has been a little difficult to recover positions. I was sixth, but I think it’s a positive result, because I've been within only two seconds of fourth place”.

“I am very happy and quite surprised. It is true that I entered with the plan to try to win a race this season, but did not expect so soon, and less here, because although we are close to home, this area is more favorable to the French riders. However, we have learned to manage well the advantage in getting the Extreme special test, especially after the first step, and go without making mistakes. It was not to make mistakes nand take no chances and it went well”.

The third round of the Spanish Championship was held this past Sunday in Lozoyuela (Madrid), Adam Raga retaliated after the bad taste left from the previous Ibiza race and not only achieved the ultimate triumph but also finished with a score of zero points.

Despite the difficult weather conditions with which they started the race, with intense cold and precipitation as well as snow, the Gas Gas rider could use these facts to open the way for him to ride his own race and follow his own pace through the sections. The bet was perfect for Adam, because he managed to complete the two laps and rode each section without any penalties, which lifted him to victory above Toni Bou, who scored a point, and Takahisa Fujinami, who scored 10.

The round of Madrid also offered a good performance from the other two Gas Gas riders in the highest category (TR1), Pere Borrellas and Jorge Casals, who finished seventh and eighth respectively. On the other hand, Laia Sanz returned to TR2 after overcoming a knee injury early in the season but despite her victory last week at the European female, suffered from physical problems and could only finish in ninth.

The championship of Spain will hold its fourth meeting on May 13th in Sigüenza (Guadalajara), although the official Gas Gas team will return to activities on the 28th and 29th of April at the start of the World Championship in La Bresse (France).

Adam Raga

“This was not an easy race. The cold was incredible, but everything went well and I am very happy. I wanted to be out first to try to follow my own strategy and my own pace, and the truth is that I did do okay. I rode without pressure and in a couple of hours I managed to finish the race. It was not an extremely difficult Trial, but it was not easy. Some areas were quite complicated and lengthy, so that in this respect I think it was a correct race. I am very pleased with the victory and it shows that we are ready to fight at a high level, but we need to be a bit more regular and will work in this direction to keep improving”.

The fourth round of the Spanish Enduro Championship this past weekend revealed two types of emotions in Valverde del Camino (Huelva) in a two-day race in which Ivan Cervantes and his Gas Gas EC 450F were again at the top of the podium. The popular Andalusian event was marked by changing weather conditions that complicated the course of the special test ‘valverdeñas’, mainly in the day on Saturday, when Ivan first achieved the lead position in E2 and the Scratch.

Although the evidence was disputed on terrain very suitable and well known by his main rival, Cristóbal Guerrero, Cervantes gave everything during the first day of competition, in which the rain hindered the work of the riders. Besides Ivan, Gonçalo Reis also excelled in E1 and was second, while Jordi Figueras took another step forward to finish third in E3. For Sunday, a couple of errors in the Enduro Test and the mythical Extreme nature of the “Three holm-oaks” Cervantes was weighed down from the early stages of the race, but his honor allowed him to fight to the end for a win on this occasion and leads Guerrero. Reis was third in the smaller class, while Figueras was fourth and came within one step of the podium.

Thanks to these results, Ivan remains close Guerrero in the overall standings, waiting until the Spanish Championship returns to life on April 29th in Bassella (Lleida).

“It was a good weekend. Not expecting to win on Saturday, because Cristobal is very familiar with this race, but each time the bike is better and everything went perfect. Too bad a couple of small mistakes on Sunday, as this is the way of the World Championship and anything can make you lose a race. Still, we in the fight and I am very satisfied”.

“Every time I feel better with the bike and I have better feelings. It gives me great confidence and allows me to ride very comfortable. The best example is that in a race as difficult as this, there are things we have done very well. Everything worked great and I'm really happy with how it went this weekend”.

“I am very happy. Every time I feel better and the fourth place means that we are moving in the right direction. This weekend our times were very close to the best and I think we can improve even more”.

The town of Varallo Sesia, in the Italian Piedmont region hosted this weekend's first round of the European Trial championship and Gas Gas enjoyed a double victory in both categories when on Saturday Laia Sanz dominated the women’s class and Matteo Grattarola took the overall win on Sunday.

After the rains that affected the region during the day Friday, the sections submitted for the women were quite wet, so Laia chose to avoid risks and to make her own race. Despite having nearly a month recovering from the knee injury that occurred at the start of the championship of Spain, the GasGas rider has recovered well and showed it section after section, totaling only two penalty points at the end of the day compared with 13 and scored 19 points for Becky Cook and Emma Bristow, second and third, respectively.

For Sunday areas were a little more complicated and the fight at the front was particularly disputed. Finally, the victory would remain in the hands of Italian Matteo Grattarola riding a Gas Gas, -looking for a title that has eluded him the past two years-. Finishing behind Grattarola were Daniele Maurino and Cedric Tempier respectively, while the Gas Gas rider Pere Borrellas did not have much luck and had to settle for sixth place, just four points behind the fourth position.

The European trial championship UEM rests until it’s return to Italy on the 7th and 8th of July.

"This is an important victory for me because I had several months without references of my rivals and did not know how they were doing. The last half year, with all of the Dakar, I have trained very little Trial and also the knee injury has kept me out of game for a month, so I was a little uneasy. Fortunately all went well and now I more confident in my chances of winning the championship, but there is still much work to do. About the race, it was easy to slip and make a mistake because the ground was wet by rain on Friday, so I decided to go into first to make my own race and not have to be aware of the others. Yesterday we had to work a little on the bike as we were looking for the proper settings to adapt to my riding style. And I think we found a good compromise because I felt very comfortable".

The city of San Juan, in western Argentina, was the scene this weekend for the second race of the Enduro World Championship (EWC) and the first World Championship victory for Ivan Cervantes with Gas Gas. After the two second places achieved in Chile a week earlier that earned him the lead in the Enduro 2 classification, Ivan not only retained his consistency but strengthened his position by the win on Saturday and a third place on Sunday.

After starting the Grand Prix of Argentina struggling closely with Juha Salminen, a mechanical problem delayed the Finn and allowed Cervantes to deal a blow to the classification by beating Cristobal Guerrero by 27 seconds and Johnny Aubert by more than 38. After this great victory the first day, the second day had a similar line, with a close competition with Ivan following Salminen until on the final special test, and struggling to try to get the win again, a small error led the Gas Gas rider to give second place to Guerrero by only 0.33 of a second. However, Ivan has expanded his lead going into the third round of the season, the GP of Euskadi, to be held on the 5th and 6th of May.

Moreover, in Enduro Junior, Danny McCanney continues to adapt well to the World Championship and fighting for his place on the podium, on Saturday and Sunday finishing fourth a fifth place respectively. Finally, Jordi Figueras holds his own in E3, finishing tenth on the first day and eleventh on Sunday.

“I’ve been waiting for this moment and struggling to achieve this success and it has finally arrived. I am very happy for me and the entire team. The effort of their work have now been given the reward and last week we had a great race in Chile, this week we still have done better. This will be a very complicated year and each day that passes I am more convinced to maintain the schedule that we have determined, so we cannot relax. Plus Saturday's win, I think we can be pleased by the pace we have and because, even having left an open track, this weekend we have proven to be very consistent. Now it is time to go back home and maximize the time to take stock of what we can further improve as the season is long and we have not done anything yet".
